SBRC Hires Alex Boyer as Co-Head Pro
We are very excited to announce that Alex Boyer has been hired as a new Co-Head Pro at the South Bend Racquet Club, with the expectation that he will take over the full Head Pro responsibilities within the next 12 months. Alex is a graduate of the Ferris State University Professional Tennis Management program, which is a pioneering program that prepares graduates of the program for management positions in the tennis industry.
Shelly Whitney will continue as a Co-Head Pro with Alex until he assumes all responsibilities of the position. Shelly has been Head Pro at the SBRC since 1997 and will be stepping back to a part-time teaching spot moving forward. She is excited to hand the reigns over to Alex and has full confidence that he will continue the significant advancement the offering has made under her supervision.
We cannot begin to express our gratitude to Shelly for everything she has done for tennis in our community and at the club. The pro services offered at the SBRC have thrived under her leadership over the past 27 years. Though we knew this day would eventually come… rest assured… Shelly has stressed that she will probably be out on the court “until the day she dies!” Per Shelly’s personal request, we will not be hosting a public retirement party. However, please join us in congratulating Alex on his new role, as well as thanking Shelly for all that she has done and will continue to do at the club.
